Spa Patch Testing Policy

Your safety is our priority. Before any eyelash tint, eyebrow tint, or lash lift treatment, a patch test will be required to ensure your skin is suitable for the products being used.

Patch test requirements can vary slightly depending on the manufacturer’s guidelines for the products used, so our salon follows the specific recommendations set by our chosen product brands to ensure the safest possible practice.

When a Skin Sensitivity Test Is Required

A Skin Sensitivity Test is required if:

You have not had a tint or lift treatment with us within the last 6 months
Your medication has changed (for example antibiotics or hormonal treatments), as this can affect skin sensitivity
You have any changes to your health, allergies or sensitivities

Important Contraindications

For your safety, we are unable to perform patch tests or treatments if you are:

Pregnant or breastfeeding, as hormonal changes can increase the risk of sensitivity and reactions
You have previously experienced a reaction or possible reaction to any of the products we use, including:

Refectocil tint
Lash Bomb lifting solutions
Lash adhesive

What to Expect During Your Patch Test

You will be asked to complete and sign a skin sensitivity form before the test is carried out.
A small amount of the relevant product will be applied to the inside of your elbow.
The product will need to remain on the skin for 10 minutes before being removed.
You will be provided with a damp cotton pad and instructed to remove the product after the required time if needed.

You must monitor the area for 48 hours after your patch test.

If you experience any redness, itching, swelling, irritation or discomfort, please contact us and do not proceed with your treatment.

A patch test helps reduce the risk of a reaction but does not guarantee that a reaction cannot occur.

If there is no reaction after 48 hours, your treatment can proceed. If any reaction occurs, we will be unable to carry out the service.

It may seem unnecessary to wait 48 hours however this is to encompass any potential type IV sensitivity (delayed reaction) which often peaks between 36 and 48 hours.
